For years I have been searching for dog artwork that is generic and is not childish or cartoonish. Because there are so many breeds it is impossible for me to digitize each one. Then I ran across this artwork. I love each and every one of these 12 dogs. Each dog is generic enough to be suitable for several similar breeds. I ran the artwork by my doggie loving friend Karen and her husband Stephen. They immediately said they loved them all. I knew then it was a go.
I have sewn the 4, 6 and 8 inch Ms June. I know they sew very well. Please use the notions I recommend for best results, especially the bobbin thread and the stabilizers.
4 inch Ms June
Thread jumps are inevitable with designs like this. If your machine does not cut the jumps for you then trim them yourself as they occur. This will prevent them from getting stitched over by further stitches.
8 inch Ms June above with terracotta flower scheme
There are many details thus all the thread changes. Plus they must sew in the order I’ve given them to you to prevent them from being stitched over with further stitches. So don’t re-sequence the design to sew all one color at a time. You will be disappointed at the results.
Notions
- Background fabric – I used 100% cotton fabric – Kona weight
- Pellon brand ShirTailor fusible stabilizer – I don’t recommend any other brand. Or get it at Joann’s
- Two layers soft cut-away
- Wonderfil pre-wound bobbins #80 weight or their #100 weight on the cone bobbin thread
- Madeira Polyneon threads
- Size 12 top stitch needle

Hi Laura
I sincerely hope that you and your husband are staying safe from this very, very unpleasant virus. If your news papers and TV stations are anything like ours they are full of gloom and doom. I just long for some good news, so we have stopped watching the news. All it is doing is scaring people stupid, yes I mean stupid, all one has to do is look at the super markets all the shelves are bare. Just Crazy, of course we are taking precautions the best way we can, but I wonder if everyone else is doing their bit. Ok that’s me off my soap box. LOL
Just had to have Ms June, I shuddered at the rate of exchange but what the heck you only live once, and I love the collection. Keep up the good work.
sending you a very safe hug
Ann

I didn’t realize it was down your way. I’m so sorry.
I’m housebound so my husband is with me. Its not different for me really, but hubby has to get the groceries.
I can hardly wait to get the rest of the dogs done. I really like them all.
Thanks Ann
Laura
