This is another of my seasonal quilted door/wall banners. It is quilted in the hoop.
I used my Shades Method for the applique flowers. However, I left in the separate color stops in the event you do not want to use the Shades Method and organza fabrics.
There are 10 designs in this collection. So you have some leeway using them in other projects besides the banner.
Shades Method – A different appliqué technique
The flower appliqués are different from the appliqué you are used to. To get the shades I wanted in these designs I used layers of organza for the applique fabric. But still the process is different from your typical machine embroidery applique.
Some advantages of Shades Method Applique
* The flowers are digitized to eliminate several of the steps normally done with applique.
* One color of organza does the whole flower and its shades – no searching for separate fabrics for each shade
* One color thread is used for the whole flower; one thread color matches the applique fabric regardless of its different shades; therefore, no searching for threads to match each fabric/shade.
