The art of Trapunto has been around many years, adding a measure of beauty to quilts beyond beautiful color arrangements and quilting. You can find it primarily on heirloom quilts. My machine embroidery trapunto is a quick and “pain free” approach to creating trapunto quilts, using the embroidery machine.
What’s more my method of quilt-as-you-go creates a clean neat finish on both the front and the back sides. The scalloped border is a lovely finish to this beautiful heirloom inspired quilt.
My machine embroidery method allows you to make the blocks 3 different ways, whatever your choice:
- White background with colored trapunto. (This is the method I used with the project shown here.)
- Colored background with white trapunto.
